Why Bordoodles?
The bordoodle combines the AKC's two most intelligent breeds: Border collie (#1) and Poodle (#2)!
We fell in love with our original Border Collie, Archie, over thirty years ago when we rescued him from the local humane society. We have been smitten with the breed ever since and love the opportunity to share this smart and loyal breed with others.
Border Collies are fiercely loyal and incredibly intelligent. Archie was known to follow Mike around the house. When Mike was inside and Archie was outdoors he would follow Mike around the house making sure to sit outside the window of whatever room Mike was in! Our neighbors were smitten too... when grilling they were always sure to put an extra burger on the grill for their favorite canine! Sadly, we lost Archie in 2007.
Our love for the breed didn't stop there! We've added new border collies to the family and love that they share many of the same traits we loved about Archie! Their loyalty and intelligence makes them lovable and they truly feel like members of the family.
Combining the border collie with the poodle to create the "Bordoodle" also sometimes called "borderpoos", "borderdoodles" or "borpoos" combines two of the most premier and intelligent breeds (ranked 1st and 2nd respectively). One of the best attributes of this lovely combination is the low-no shed status. Having border collies, we are well aware that their black fur follows them wherever they go and can be on furniture, flooring, and just about everywhere. We were initially skeptical as to wether or not a bordoodle could really be low/no shed with the border collie genes. However, after having them in our home we can confidently say we notice the difference. We love this combination and the intelligent, fun loving, and gentle puppies it creates!
